3) How We Use Information (Purposes & Legal Bases)

Our purposes

  • Provide and operate the service: create/manage accounts, authenticate users, process subscriptions, deliver content, and provide support.
  • Improve and secure: debug, analyze, research, and enhance performance and user experience; protect against fraud and abuse.
  • Communicate: send transactional messages (e.g., receipts, account notices); send optional marketing communications where permitted.
  • Comply: meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations; enforce terms; respond to lawful requests.

Legal bases (EEA/UK where applicable)

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for non-essential cookies/analytics/retargeting and marketing where required
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c))

4) Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies for:

  • Strictly necessary: login, security, billing
  • Analytics & performance: GA4 and Hotjar to understand site usage
  • Advertising/retargeting: Meta Pixel, Google Ads, and LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure campaigns and show ads for SlideStart on other sites

Choices. Manage cookies in your browser. Where required, we present a banner to obtain consent for non-essential cookies and provide a Cookie Settings link (footer) to update preferences.

Do Not Sell or Share. Under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), our use of advertising cookies/pixels may be considered a “share” for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money, but we may share identifiers and internet activity with our ad partners for retargeting. You can opt out any time via the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link and by using the Global Privacy Control (GPC)

5) How We Disclose Information

We do not sell personal information. We disclose the categories described above to:

  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale (we’ll provide notice where required)

6) International Transfers

We are U.S.-based and may transfer personal information to the U.S. and other countries that may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) with our processors. We do not maintain an EU/UK representative.

7) Retention

  • Account & billing records: up to 7 years after your last transaction (tax/finance)
  • Support tickets & VideoAsk submissions: up to 24 months after closure unless needed longer for legal reasons
  • Marketing contact data: until you unsubscribe or after 24 months of inactivity
  • Analytics: GA4 event data for up to 14 months; Hotjar data per account settings (we aim for ≤ 12 months where configurable)

8) Security
